VIII Vantage Point
To care for encaustic artwork, avoid extreme temperatures (both hot and cold), direct sunlight, and moisture. A natural "bloom" or cloudiness is normal and can be restored by gently buffing the surface with a clean, lint-free cloth. Avoid framing under glass, but you can cover the artwork with a protective sheet like wax paper or Glassine for transport or storage.
Little Bird was mostly hidden from view, flitting from branch to branch, spiky bushes pulling at her feathers. She met (too) many Other Birds to keep track of and although she liked to chat she could not trust herself to stay too long. Life had been relentless and Little Bird was simply Burnt Out.
So Little Bird gave herself permission to Take Time. She circled her life but would spiral in and out. Little Bird continued to travel Unfamiliar Ground in the Hope of forging New Pathways. Surveying the Landscape of her Life she began to Map Herself. Who she Was. Who she would Like to Be. These things take time. They Must.
With all her attention on New Things, she watched and learned from the Other Birds - this Land was Unfamiliar. She was Unfamiliar, even to Herself. Neither Place would give up it’s secrets easily, and it would take some time to dig through them.
With a Deep Breath she set off to Map Herself upon this New Land. She listened to the Ways of the Wind and paid attention to the Patterns of the Seasons. She shivered in crisp mornings and stood, mouth open and head back, awestruck at the Stars flowing across the Dark Moonless Sky. She orientated herself to the Flow of the River and the Fall of the Rain, almost expiring in the heat of Summer. She faltered often, stumbling off course in unexpected storms. Blind and trusting, guided by instinct, she strained to hear the Quiet Wisdom of the world around and within. In time she Found Her Way, and started to Map the Wilderness Within back onto the Page.
