Conversations with the River (2020)
Building on the work and processes of the 2019 exhibition, Blue, this exhibition was one of two concurrent exhibitions in 2020, one each at Dangar Island and Brooklyn Cottage.
The artworks have evolved to be more layered and complex, more personal, building on the original photography and printmaking with embellishments of pen, ink and glow-in-the-dark paint. The increasing complexity of this work was a result of the desire to represent the natural environment of the island and the river and the changing aspects from say to night and season to season. The phosphorescent paint was used to represent the bioluminescence of the river at night. An opportunity to include illustrative, personal annotations into the imagery, the sunprints were overwritten with intimate expressions of musings, motifs and symbols of my own life and the life of the river as they intertwine.
