Portraits
Every photo is the story of a place, time or person I am trying to reflect - a personal response to the subject. When photographing people I am seeking to peel back the layers of what we see to expose a deeper truth within and speak to the lived experience of being human. There is a depth of communication that can be expressed, without words, when I frame an image to evoke an emotional response in the viewer. I am always attempting to construct an image that exposes the layers and complexity of a human being with compassion and honesty. To celebrate lived experiences and the journey of life, no matter how confronting the story.
I often rely on the intimacy of candid photography, when the mask is relaxed, to see into the heart of a person. Our lives are a collection of experiences that create the fabric of our personality and soul - woven from the warp and weft of joy and sorrow, triumph and heartbreak. Life is a constant creation of self in response to the demands placed upon us.
I invite you to join me in celebration of humanity, to acknowledge your own emotional response and to weave a narrative of connection to the portraits I am sharing.
