Shades of the River (2022)

This most recent body of work is the culmination and refinement of extensive testing of local materials into glazes, clay bodies and decorative slips. Building on the basic mud/ash/oyster glazes developed for the River Mud Series, I have refined and expanded the palette of glazes, slips and surface treatments to incorporate illustration drawn from my cyanotype work.

One of the lovely things about this body of work is the ability to work across disciplines to translate elements from photography and printmaking into ceramic pieces. Adapting transparencies into stencils and pressing the common found elements into the clay bodies, I have started to merge and consolidate the different mediums of my arts practice together.
